Winchester Trip £20.50 per person Winchester is a city in the county of Hampshire, on the edge of England's South Downs National Park. It’s known for medieval Winchester Cathedral, with its 17th-century Morley Library, the Winchester Bible and a Norman crypt. Nearby are the ruins of Wolvesey Castle and the Winchester City Mill, a working 18th-century corn mill. The Great Hall of WinchesterCastle houses the medieval round table linked to King Arthur. The Royal Green Jackets Museum has medals, uniforms and a model of the Waterloo battlefield. The nearby Gurkha Museum displays paintings, uniforms and photos detailing the history and campaigns of Nepalese soldiers. At the City Museum Winchester, exhibits range from Roman mosaics to Anglo-Saxon jewellery. Historic Winchester College offers tours of its vaulted Gothic chapel, chamber court and medieval cloister. South of the city is the extensive Marwell Zoo, where the animals include giraffes, tigers and hippos. To the northeast, Jane Austen's House Museum re-creates the novelist’s home and garden as they were when she lived there.
